Peach Days
This Labor Day weekend, join with us in A Celebration of Our Heritage at the Hurricane Peach Days. This year marks the 26th anniversary of the Peach Days. However, Peach Days really began in 1909. At that time, it was called the Fruit Festival. It wasn’t until 1915 that the name was officially changed to Peach Days. In 1951 the name was changed to the Washington County Fair and not long after was moved to the Washington County Legacy Park. The people of Hurricane missed the hometown spirit that accompanied Peach Days. In 1999 the first board members David Stirland, Tom Hirschi, Vera Hirschi, and Jarolyn Stout organized the Peach Days that we know and love today.
Whether you are a native to the area, a transplant, or just here for a visit; Peach Days will give you a great sense of community and appreciation for our pioneer heritage. You can walk through the community center and view various handiwork, garden, art, and heritage displays. You may want to check out the homemade sales or commercial booths, or wander through pioneer corner and learn about the skills our pioneer ancestors passed down. Be sure to grab a bite to eat at the food booths lining the street, and relax under the shade to enjoy the local talent at the continuous entertainment. Don’t miss the parade Saturday morning or the rodeos Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. There is something for everyone!
Hurricane has a great heritage to celebrate. Be sure to celebrate with us this year at the Hurricane Peach Days!
